Public Housing

Applications accepted Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Provide housing to families with income below 80% of local area median income.
Rent is approximately 30% of family income or the established contract rent.
Currently there are 180 multifamily units for rent in three cities.

Lavonia, GA. = 136 units
Carnesville, GA. = 28 units
Canon, GA. = 16 units

4 units are 0-bedroom efficiency units
57 units are 1-bedroom
58 units are 2-bedroom
54 units are 3-bedroom
7 units are 4-bedroom  

The Housing Authority is responsible for water, sewage and garbage service.
The resident (tenant) pays for their gas and electric service.
We have a superior Maintenance Department and facility with.
a full time Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Mechanic.
We provide a 24 hour on-call maintenance for maintenance emergencies.
Our daily maintenance schedule is 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Grass and lawn services are provided by LHA. Residents do not cut grass.
All painting services are provided by LHA.   Residents are not authorized to paint,
wall paper or alter the interior of the units.
All tree and shrubbery trimming is provided by LHA.
The Housing Authority contracts for much of the grass and lawn care, unit painting, unit cleaning and a variety of other maintenance issues. All professional contractors must be insured, licensed and bonded, comply with E-Verify and be in compliance with all Federal and State laws.
